She’s coming

Stepping out of the house

The chill in the air cuts through me

I hug myself with both arms crossed

Holding tightly to my coat

I take deep breaths to smell the air.

I can taste spring at the tip of my tongue

Feeling hopeful for a brighter day

I turn to head towards the park

A host of spring buds waiting

To blossom and radiate

Fighting their way through

Emerging from the morning frost

The sun caressed them, and they melted.

Smiling towards the golden sky

Rising to reach the rays of light

That made them shine and glow

The air that fed them to grow

And the earth that cradled their roots

Pushed them above their heads

To reach new heights of life

Spring that visits once a year

Leaves a legacy that

Gives hope to the hopeful

That carries the hearts dreams

Her fragrance is for us to cherish

Infusing us with new energy!

The season that brings life

New beginnings’

Through the ice and snow

Keeps the heart growing

Knowing that she’s coming
