Grief

Losing one after the other

Losing a dear one or another,

Losing the voices that once called my name,

Losing the hearts that once held me close,

One after the other they go.

One after the other they bid farewell.

Death calls them to their home –

What would I do to hear their laughter

What would I do to embrace them again

And yet I stand alone, helpless.

I stand alone with no power to keep them

With me for another day or two

Just to cherish their existence for true.

I’m looking to see a soul that can live on

With me till my last breath

Yet I find none that can hold my hand.
