Finding Peace

Finding my peace
as I read the headlines
that leave me sad and
depressed
Finding my peace
after so many deceased.
They linger in my thoughts
and sit in my prayers.
Their memories are
my blessings.

Finding my peace
when the future is uncertain
which gives birth to anxiety
that ambiguity tests my piety.
Still, I find my peace,
in the silence of the night
in the chaos of the streets
in the leaves of the trees
in the freshness of the air
that gives me life again and again.
I find my peace in the rays of the sun
shining like the beacon,
beckoning me to carry on
holding on to hope as dawn is near
the sky is bright and clear
the rivers flow in bliss
the birds chirp in a melody
bringing beauty and peace.

And here, I find my peace
as the dewy morning awakens
to embrace the day’s tidings
I hold my hands at Thanksgiving
for another chance to live
to give, to love, to share
to care, to rejoice and to cheer
In life, I find my peace within
it is deep in our souls
it is in every part of our being
it is our shadow
and it is there to cherish and nurture
in any weather-
for it is bright
It is light, like a feather.
