Life in Essex

Thousands of miles
Across the oceans and seas
Leaving behind the sun and
The earth familiar to me

Arriving in the Southeast of England
A place of tranquil pastures
Acres of land, still, in silence
Reminding me of the paddy fields
I once roamed in blithely

Sweet neighbours welcome me
To my new abode with tea and cake
I glance outside to see.
Where have I come?
“You are in Essex my dear.”

Early morning lustre inspires my soul
Calm evenings soothe my mind
Velvet green grass cools my vision
The slow-paced life gives me peace.

Immaculate streets and paths
Hold my gaze as I cherish the vista
Walking along the colourful road
Lined with smiling blossoms
I notice the rusty woods
Perfect for a stroll in November air
In the snow, it’s a vision to hold.

February brings the light
Ready to welcome Spring
Made daisy chains with friends
Frolicking in the meadow in midday glory
Going back home
A dwelling catches my eyes, that quaint bungalow!
Perfect for an image
With a very pretty stream
The sight makes me beam
Is this really happening to me?
Or am I living a dream?
