Life in London

Living in London! I am living in London! Goodness me!

It has been a dream to be dwelling in the city and it finally came true. I have been in love with the place since I landed in this country back in the ’90s and always wondered about living and working in the capital. Perhaps I do have a rose-tinted perspective of the place, perhaps this is the fairy tale inside me that refuses to mature but I gladly accept that I am a proud Londoner.
It is true that being away from one’s family is not easy, however, it can also bring you close. Sometimes the old saying distance makes the heart grow fonder is very real. Of course, there is no denying that it is very hard to find your feet in a new place, especially one that is incredibly busy, but generally speaking, it brings so much culture, exposure, and a myriad of experiences that you feel all the richer for it. On the other hand, you may feel as though you have suddenly aged 10 years, due to the fast-paced life in the city. The evidence lies in the fine grey colouring you find in your hairbrush.
Yes, London is a super fast city and it can drown you if you allow it.  There is so much to see and so much to learn, where does one begin? To my great surprise there are many beautiful parks hidden amongst the concrete stalwarts and many peaceful places for contemplations and to read books! Needless to say, they are equally enjoyed by runners, joggers, dog walkers, and those like me who enjoy a gentle stroll. The nightlife provides a great escape with a variety of food vendors offering their delicacies for your convenience. The number of museums and art galleries available for exploring and expanding your horizon is boundless. You only have to look to find something that interests you and you can go on a journey of discovery, a journey that is endless.
As much as I love the London experience, the one thing to bear in mind is sometimes your nose will get a whiff of weed!! Now, if you are used to it, great!! But for those who are not accustomed to it, well, you will soon get used to it and it will become a part of your daily encounters.
There’s something I never thought I’d say!!
